Where It Began

Bad Form started with a simple realisation: everyone's skin is different, and no amount of good reviews changes that.

Soyun tried a lot of products. Some loved by thousands, recommended everywhere, genuinely well made. And still — not quite right. Not because they were bad, but because skin is personal. What works for most doesn't always work for you.

That's where Bad Form came from. Not a lightbulb moment, not a gap in the market. Just an honest acknowledgment that skincare is not one-size-fits-all, and that most brands aren't really built around that truth.

So she built one that was. No pressure to commit to a full routine. Just a small, carefully considered collection — made with ingredients that are gentle, effective, and nothing more than necessary. Bad Form might not be for everyone. But for the right skin, it'll feel like it was made for you.

We don't chase trends. We don't do complicated. Every decision, from formulas to packaging, is made with purpose.

Bad Form was built slowly and carefully — questioning what's necessary and what's just noise. That's how Soyun works as a designer, and it's how this brand was built too.

We choose ingredients that make sense, not just sound good. We use aluminium tubes and glass bottles because they're better for the planet, even if they're harder to source at our scale. We work with local partners because it keeps things real, lets us monitor quality closely, and builds something we can actually stand behind.

We know Bad Form won't be for everyone. But for those it suits, we want it to be exactly right.

Formulated & Produced in New Zealand

Bad Form Skincare is developed in collaboration with a small, experienced formulation and manufacturing team based in New Zealand's South Island. Working closely with a focused team means thoughtful formulation, careful refinement, and real attention to detail at every stage.

Each product is produced in small batches. Not mass manufactured. This keeps quality consistent, ingredient integrity intact, and gives us the space to get things right rather than just get them done.

From development through to final production, every step is considered, measured, and handled with care.

Founder's Note

You've probably heard this before — someone couldn't find the right skincare, so they made their own. I know. But honestly, it wasn't about finding the perfect product. It was about finding something that just worked. Consistently. Without drama.

I'm an exhibition designer. My work is about shaping experience — how people move through space, how materials feel, how a room communicates something before a word is spoken. Over time I started seeing skincare the same way. Not just results, but fit. How it integrates into a day. Whether it actually makes sense for real skin and real life.

In my twenties I didn't think much about ingredients. I wanted products that worked — clear skin, smooth texture, quick results. Moving closer to forty, that's shifted. My skin became more reactive, less forgiving. I started caring less about intensity and more about balance: protecting the barrier, maintaining hydration, cutting out what wasn't earning its place.

Building Bad Form was slow. Prototypes, adjustments, long testing periods. It would have been easy to rush. But I've learned that getting something right takes time — especially when the goal is to support the skin rather than overwhelm it.

This brand isn't about reversing age or chasing perfection. It's about maintaining what you have, being kind to your skin, and feeling at ease in it.
